Proposed changes to CSIC By-laws defeated!

At the 2009 AGM, the members defeated the motion to amend the By-laws proposed by the Board of Directors

The proposed changes would allow the Directors to remain on the Board indefinitely. The fact that the Chair is also an Acting CEO would be made legal - under the current By-laws, the CEO may not be a Director.

The proposed changes would remove those few rights that members still have - like asking for a poll of vote.

The changes to the By-laws must be approved by two thirds of the members participating in the Annual General Meeting. The Board did not achieve the 2/3 majority.

Members exercised their rights!
